Deetail - Wild West - 1st Series Cowboys on foot

The first series cowboys on foot was produced from 1972 until 1983/88.
They first appeared in the 1972 Britains catalogue and were in every catalogue up until (and including) 1981. Four of the figures continued to be produced up until 1983, and the other two up until 1988 (the Mexican and the one handed standing gunsliger).
Figures 662 and 663 were included in 3rd series with a blue/green paint scheme.
The stained paint version of these figure were produced up until 1982.
As you will see in the gallery of Images, there are a number of paint variations for each figure.
All figures found in at least two paint colours. Latest prices can be found here.

Kneeling Cowboy with Pistols (Reference 659)
Produced from 1972 until 1983. Has Pug-in arm.
This is the only cowboy (across all three series) that is kneeling so it is easy to recognise this as Series One.
The figure is one of the most difficult to find of the six. There were two versions of this figure, one with bent arm and one straight.

Standing Cowboy with Rifle (Reference 660)
Produced from 1972 until 1983.
This is a very popular figure with the majority of the figures in the first two colours. It's tempting to confuse the third figure with 3rd Series cowboy (due to blue base colour), it isn't, the third series figure has a scarf.

Standing Cowboy firing Rifle (Reference 661)
Produced from 1972 until 1983. Has Pug-in arm.
Both figures were 'Made in England' and have stained paint style so date would be between 1973-1982.

One handed Gunsliger(Reference 662)
Produced from 1972 until 1988.
This is a very popular cowboy, the most popular of the six. The hat was altered in 1982. All figures were 'Made in England' and have stained paint style so date would be between 1973-1982.

Mexican (Reference 663)
Produced from 1972 until 1988.
This was one of two that continued to be produced up until 1988 which means there are a lo of these on the market. Not to be confused with the rare to find Mexicans. You will see this is often on ebay advertised as being part of the rarer Mexican set.

Two handed Cowboy firing Pistol (Reference 664)
Produced from 1972 until 1983.
This figure was 'Made in England'. Has stained paint style so date would be between 1973-1982.
